Faerie Organic makeup is Faerie impressive

DSC00198AFTER (foundation in Fairly-Light)

I used to wear a ton of makeup. I mean a lot. I felt the need to cover my face so much that you couldn’t see a thing, not any semblance of MY skin under there. I got over that.

Now, I enjoy a nice powder or liquid foundation that is not only a healthier choice than the toxic chemical laden ones but one that doesn’t cake on and sit on my face like a mask.

I have only a select few brands I truly enjoy and that cover, don’t break me out, clog my pores or feel cakey. This is definitely one of the winners.

DSC00248 Seriously. this stuff is nice. Look at my seriousness.

Faerie Organics foundation powders come in a nice array of shades. I mean wow. In the Fair shades alone they have ten options!

Here I am wearing the Faerie Organic foundation powder in Fairly-light (airbrush). They have full coverage called Maximum Coverage and Airbrush for lighter to medium coverage. I usually go for maximum but the airbrush was very nice and I loved that it didn’t leave my pores noticeable.

Most powders, you will find when you start to buff them on that they leave little holes where your pores are and it looks awful. I didn’t have that with this powder and I was so glad because it’s such a nightmare to fix! I have had it on for over 8 hours now and have oily skin and it’s holding up really well. #impressed.

I then gave myself a tad more color with the Sun-Goddess Bronzer. I like this as it is a nice deep color but not too dark for me. Great for contouring and bronzing.

I added the final touch of the perfectly rose colored blusher in “true” and I LOVE it. It is the pink that goes with my skin tone. I am so happy about this color. I am in love, for sure.

It feels so light and so clean and not  heavy at all and yet I feel confidently done up.

QUICK Viatnamese-style Rolls

I wandered out into the kitchen. Much to my surprise I see my Husband, of all people, making a dish. He’s never really been one to get the “I must cook this” bug up his butt like I do everyday. He isn’t as inspired as I am I suppose. Because let me just tell you…he CAN make food! Apparently!

He was soaking some rice paper rounds, thawing shrimp, gathering and slicing veggies and rolling up some Vietnamese styled rolls. I was amazed. I quickly hopped on that train and whipped up a peanut dipping sauce (gf,vegan and healthy ofcourse)!

SoOooOoO good! All he did was this :

1) Soak rice paper rounds (found at Asian markets uber cheap)

2) carefully lay onto cutting board or flat surface

3) Place whatever veggies or fillings you’d like (we used shrimp, cucumber, carrots and spinach)

4) roll up like a burritio 😉

5) Um. Duh. Enjoy!

Garden of Wisdom : Picking foods to feed your face

It is crucial to choose nutrient dense, water rich foods and foods with high nutritional value to put IN your body.

However, choosing the right foods to go ON your body, that can be a little unclear and hard to figure out according to your skin type, age, etc.

I found a great little company, modestly tucked away in the folds of the natural skincare line websites. It’s called GoW or Garden of Wisdom. I called them and had a lovely little chat with them and they were so kind, receptive and wanted to hear more about my blog and what I do.

I had some skincare concerns, and tried out their sample program which is really cool btw. You pay very little and get large samples. They lasted me quite some time. Here is what I tried:

(Bear in mind, I have finicky skin. It is break out prone, sensitive, congested and combination so it becomes dehydrated easily. (ugh, right?). I REALLY had a great time using these, loved how they smelled and the textures were great!)

First, I tried the Almond Milk/Papaya Cleanser I got a nice little tub of this and its very smooth, smells like almond milk, is creamy and cleanses very well without stripping the skin. My face didn’t feel like it had a film or like the cleanser was overly moisturizing, it felt balanced.

I then tried the Green Tea Cleanser (Jen’s). This is a more intensive cleanser, cleanses more deeply and is slightly more oil absorbing due to it’s sudsing abilities. I used this when I was very oily and congested (lady time of the month is a great time for this one). It aids in redness reduction big time and is this cool jelly like green consistency. Too neat!

Lastly, I cleansed with the Fall into my Pumpkin Cleanser. OMG. Did I say OMG? Let me just tell you. I LOVE PUMPKIN. OMG! Fall is my favorite, I love baking and this cleanser just made me want to sit and smell it allllll day long. Truly amazing. This made my 5 minute cleansing regimen a piece of pumpkin pie to endure each night. It is slightly exfoliating which is great for post inflammatory conditions and redness, but it’s SUPER gentle. I got the same feeling with this as the Almond milk cleanser, I felt balanced not too dry or too oily. PERFECT. Still can’t stop smelling it.

I also tried out their Marityme AntiOxidant Gel which is wonderful. It works very fast on sun spots, and hyperpigmentation and scars. Lightens and evens skin overnight and is very gentle and super natural.

They were kind enough to send me a sample of their Coconut Revival Serum. I was ecstatic because 1) I forgot to get a moisturizing anything to go with my cleansers and 2) I LOVE the smell of coconut too! This felt wonderful and comforting to my skin. It is great of your skin is parched, dehydrated or too oily. I popped this in the fridge and used it on really warm night and it was absorbed so quickly and made me skin feel fresh and dewy, not oily. The smell is not of fakey tropical coconut junk, it smells like REAL coconut and coconut water. YUM!

I cannot thank them enough for helping to support my efforts in getting the word out about leading healthier lives and how important it is.

Smokey Purple Prescious Pink: Summertime pastely glow with Monave’s Natural products

Here I simply used my oil controlling humectant (which is FAB btw and smells amazing, I love the smell!) You only need a TINY bit, which is also just as FAB.

I used my oil-control foundation which has held up very well in this frizz-causing heat wave we’re having.yuck!

I contoured and bronzed with my Mineral Bronzer in #310 (nice light shade for us fair skinned people).

I then used my adorable hot pink blush (tiny bit goes a looooong way) in #218, LOVE this it’s so versatile!

Next I highlighted the bridge of my nose and cheekbones using their Face Illuminator in RD. I also mixed a small but into my lipgloss for a highlighted lip!

I patted the color #70 (actually a mineral blush) onto my lids and slightly into the crease. This color is a beautiful shimmery pink with bronzey and golden hues. SO LOVELY. I would definitely compare it to NARS “orgasm” but definitely better for your skin and the animals.

I then grabbed my little pot of this lovely, dark- lavender hued shadow pigment in V V. I blended this lightly into the crease and slightly under to the bottom lashline.

I, of course, finished by applying my cream to powder in Black along the lashline.

Berry Natural and very easy : One product, one FAB face featuring Monave

All natural cosmetics is the healthy choice and the right one . Here I simply applied my Monave foundation, left my skin slightly dewy so I could easily glide the pigment onto my skin.

I grabbed my lipstick #54, it’s a lovely deep brown berry shade. I warmed it up with my finger and patted it into the outer corners of my lids as well as slightly into the crease. I then blended it upward with a clean finger to give a smokey eye effect. Subtle yes, but the red tones make it stand out very well.

I then dotted three spots along my cheekbone and blended this upward toward my temple with my clean fingers.

I then applied my lipstick as usual and was sure to blot so it wasn’t too dark for the daytime.

what a simple time saving technique!

My mother actually used to use Burt’s Bees lip tints on her cheeks, I thought she was crazy, I told her “Mom, uh, duh, that’s why they have BLUSH.” I was rude, and a teenager.

I actually realized after I did this little review using one product, that I wasn’t the actual genius behind the time saving makeup trick! Thanks mom ❤
